David Miller, who bought the Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., property in December 2014, plans to sell 40 acres of the golf course, and use that money to revitalize the front nine. Miller has already pumped more than $1.2 million into the property, with 10 new tennis courts and clubhouse renovations.
Developers Eschew Golf Courses in St. Johns County, Fla.
The county has issued permits for more than 1,700 homes so far this year, and none of the developments include golf courses, instead opting for water parks, kayak launches, and bike trails. One developer said the demand for a golf lifestyle is waning, and locals have plenty of existing golf courses from which to choose.
Ponte Vedra G&CC Sold to Alta Mar Holdings LLC
The sale of the Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., property, which includes a golf course designed by Ed Seay, tennis courts, pool, and clubhouse, was finalized on January 29 and the new operations staff, led by former PGA Tour player Mike Miles, took over on February 1. The new management team said it will evaluate the property and “right the ship.”
