Fountaine succeeds Doug Steffen, PGA, under whom he was an Assistant Professional at the Springfield, N.J. club from 2010 to 2014. Most recently Fountaine was the Head Golf Professional at Arcola CC, and he has also worked in golf pro positions at Old Sandwich GC, The Dye Preserve, Red Tail GC and Binghamton CC.

Ranked according to user reviews, a short course is defined by GolfAdvisor as 18-hole courses under 5,500 yards or nine-hole courses under 2,700 yards. Hideaway Country Club in Fort Myers, Fla., takes the list’s top spot, followed by Barn Hollow at Hawk’s View Golf Club in Lake Geneva, Wis., and Palm Beach (Fla.) Par 3.

Muttontown Club, Mirbeau Inn & Spa at The Pinehills Appoint New Executive Chefs
Clifford Goodman, formerly with Glen Head CC, will head the culinary team at The Muttontown Club on Long Island. At the Mirbeau Inn & Spa at The Pinehills in Plymouth, Mass., Stephen Coe, whose 20-plus years of experience includes tenure at The Country Club in Brookline, Mass., will now direct the resort property’s culinary efforts.
Waverly Oaks GC Owner Submits Subdivision Plans
Mark Ridder, owner and General Manager of the Plymouth, Mass., property, has filed definitive subdivision plans for 113 single-family homes on 44 acres at the site. Under the plan, the nine-hole executive course would be wiped out for the homes, but the 18-hole golf course would remain intact.
GCSAA Awards 2013 Joseph S. Garske Collegiate Grants
The golf organization awarded five children of GCSAA members with one-time, one-year grants to fund their education at an accredited college or trade school. The grant was established in honor of Par Aide company founder Garske, and is funded by Par Aide, a golf course accessory company, and administered by the Environmental Institute for Golf, the philanthropic organization of GCSAA.
