Revamped Shingle Creek GC Reopens
The Orlando, Fla., course features new holes, greens and reconfigured bunkers. Some holes on the front nine were eliminated and replaced with longer combination holes. Another hole now plays alongside a lake instead of over it.
Grande Pines GC Sold for $24M
The 170-acre Orlando property is being sold by Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corp., to “increase value for shareholders.” Marriott will continue to operate the golf course for about a year as the new owners, AG-RW Grande Pines LLC, perform due diligence on the property, with possible residential and retail development plans.
Comedian Bill Engvall to Headline Closing of GCSAA Education Conference
The event, which is presented in partnership with John Deere, will conclude the conference at the 2014 Golf Industry Show in Orlando on February 6. The new GCSAA Board of Directors will be introduced and the winner of the GCSAA Collegiate Turf Bowl will be presented at the event as well.
Golf Industry Show Registration Opens for GCSAA Members
Members of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America can now register for the 2014 Golf Industry Show, held February 1-6 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. PGA of America Launches Get Golf Ready Power Mixer
In conjunction with Orlando-based hospitality industry leaders, the event will introduce attendees to the many benefits of the game through Get Golf Ready, which will include five lessons that concentrate on the skills necessary to play the game. Attendees will consist of a network of hospitality and meeting planners, and the event will be held at the World of Whirlpool in Chicago on August 28.
