Muttontown Club, Mirbeau Inn & Spa at The Pinehills Appoint New Executive Chefs
Clifford Goodman, formerly with Glen Head CC, will head the culinary team at The Muttontown Club on Long Island. At the Mirbeau Inn & Spa at The Pinehills in Plymouth, Mass., Stephen Coe, whose 20-plus years of experience includes tenure at The Country Club in Brookline, Mass., will now direct the resort property’s culinary efforts.
Napa Valley CC Installs Solar Power System
The Napa, Calif., property will be powered by a 251-kW solar power system that is ground-mounted on a hillside above the golf course, spanning a total of 17,610 sq. ft. The system allows the club to generate enough electricity each day to power over 57 average homes, with excess power banked by Pacific Gas & Electric Company for credit towards future use.
CMAA Names 100 New Certified Club Managers
The CCM designation indicates that a club management professional has completed a rigorous course of study and training, and shows a dedication to proficiency and expertise in club management. The two classes are the final group of managers to earn their CCM under the Club Managers Association of America’s previous requirements, as new requirements became effective following the first administered CCM exam in January 2014.
Resort Company Takes Over Timbers Bachelor Gulch
Effective November 1, Timbers Resorts is taking over Ritz-Carlton Club Bachelor Gulch in Avon, Colo., and changed the property’s name. Plans for the property include adding several dedicated luxury amenities to “restore its exclusivity,” and a renovation of the residences.

Fire Burns ½ Acre at Napa Valley CC
Sparks from a circular saw caused the blaze at the Napa, Calif., club as workers were cutting old pipes in a back area of the property. The fire was contained within a half hour and the club remained open during the incident, with golfers continuing to play as fire engines drove onto the property.
Crestwood CC Turnaround Complete
After seeing membership fall to less than 100 three years ago, the Rehoboth, Mass. club is back to a full membership of 300. “The only way you can turn it around is to be here all the time, stop the bleeding and not have assessments,” said new owner Joe Moniz.
