While native areas on golf courses can help properties save costs and decrease their environmental footprints, that is no call for superintendents to get complacent. The areas require patience and TLC to take root—and once established, they are still not maintenance-free.
Mossy Oak GC to Open September 2
The West Point, Miss., property features a 7,500-yard, par-72 golf course and a Gil Hanse-designed practice facility that will serve the Mississippi State University golf teams with a driving range, short-game training areas, and a 6,400-sq. ft. team clubhouse. Plans for the facility also include a clubhouse and accompanying guest cabins.
Planned Mossy Oak GC Aims for Sustainability
A collaboration among the founders of Old Waverly GC, Gil Hanse, and outdoor brand Mossy Oak, the West Point, Miss., property is set to open in 2017, with an approach to course development that “leaves a gentle footprint on local habitat.”
