Formerly Chester Ditto GC, the course at the Arlington, Texas property has been rerouted by architect John Colligan and includes improved turf, new water features, cart paths, new bunkering, and a new fleet of GPS-enabled golf carts. The clubhouse is under construction, with a scheduled opening in 2020.
Rockwood GC to Unveil $5M Renovation
On June 30, the Fort Worth, Texas property will show off a new course layout that now measures 7,000 yards and features views of downtown, an historic rock bridge, and many greens returned to their original shapes. The city hopes the renovation will bring convention business to the area, and plans to build a clubhouse are in the works.
Golf Courses Countrywide Plan Fall Reopenings
Cypress Knoll Golf and Country Club in Palm Coast, Fla., and Mooresville (N.C.) Municipal Golf Course are both on track to reopen in September; Winter Park (Fla.) Golf Course and SunRidge Canyon Golf Club in Fountain Hills, Ariz., will each reopen October 1; Rockwood Park Golf Course in Fort Worth, Texas is scheduled to reopen in late October or early November, unveiling a $4.48 million makeover; and Wanakah Country Club in Hamburg, N.Y., accelerated phase three of its master plan, with the final phase set to begin in 2017.
ASGCA Announces Design Excellence Recipients
The American Society of Golf Course Architects named 12 recipients of the 2013 Design Excellence Recognition Program. “In each case, golf course owners, managers and superintendents faced challenges unique to them, including the landscape, environment or business situation. And, in each case, they met the challenges by working with ASGCA members,” said ASGCA Vice President Lee Schmidt.
