Land Purchase Creates New Twist on Plans for Nicklaus Course in Buffalo (N.Y.)

The acquisition of 107 acres is seen by its purchasers as a major step towards creating the new course as part of a partnership to help preserve and strengthen Buffalo’s system of Frederick Law Olmsted-designed parks. But the Conservancy that oversees the system has expressed initial hesitation, because the purchased land is outside the boundaries of the parkland that Olmstead designed.


Tiger Woods Course Project in N.C. Put on Hold

David Sawyer, Managing Partner of The Cliffs Clubs, said the company currently does not have plans to commit additional funding for development of the former Cliffs at High Carolina site in Fairview, N.C. that was to feature luxury homes and a Woods-designed course. “I’m sure it will find its way to the development track eventually,” Sawyer said.


Course Designers Named for Boca National GC

Professional golfer Nick Price and architect Tom Fazio II secured the approval from the Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District for the renovation of the highly anticipated public course being created from the former Ocean Breeze Golf Club. Fifteen firms submitted bids for the project that has an $18 million budget, including those associated with Greg Norman, Jack Nicklaus, Robert Trent Jones and Arnold Palmer.
