The Detroit City Council broke an earlier deadlock to award a two-year contract for the Chandler Park, Rackham and Rouge Park courses to a new management firm, Signet Golf Associates II. In Brevard County, Fla., commissioners took steps to continue with the transfer of The Savannahs course on Merritt Island to a homeowners’ association, and of The Habitat and Spessard Holland courses to a new non-profit organization of local residents called Golf Brevard.

The Championship, Fla.-based firm will temporarily take over management of The Habitat, The Savannahs and Spessard Holland, to fill the gap created by Integrity Golf’s sudden announcement that it would end its arrangement with the county on July 30. The county commission also agreed to seek proposals from golf-industry consultants for exploring long-term options for the courses.
Integrity Golf Ends Agreements for Three Brevard County (Fla.) Courses
The management firm informed the county that it would cease its involvement with The Habitat, The Savannahs and Spessard Holland as of July 30, citing “the net loss for the three properties [as] something we cannot continue to subsidize financially.” The county is looking into legal action for breach of contract while arranging for temporary management by other companies and also exploring new long-term solutions.
