Two years after David Spirk reached an agreement with the member-owned Hellertown, Pa. club to build townhomes on excess land on the property, members voted to sell to him, with a commitment that Silver Creek, which has an 83-year history and a Donald Ross-designed golf course, would stay private and receive at least $2.5 million in capital improvements.
The Lower Saucon Township, Pa., club plans to build 120 townhouses as part of an effort to increase club memberships, create the opportunity for renovations, and enhance local business.
The proposal could add 120 custom townhouses to 30 acres at the edges of the Hellertown, Pa., club, though the property is currently zoned as rural, which does not allow cluster development.
