Dong Raymond Ou signed a contract to purchase the West End, N.C., property in February and recently met with 200 members of the surrounding community to discuss ideas for the future. Through a separate LLC, Green Lotus Championship Golf Academy, Ou will target junior golfers from East Asia to use the property, and the restaurant will offer a menu featuring Italian and Japanese cuisine.
It’s taken five years and over $4 million more than originally planned, but the new clubhouse at the Colorado property, which will be nearly 22,000 square feet with two levels and four kitchens, is scheduled to open in the “next few weeks,” along with the Vail Nordic Center.
A study by a consulting group put the clubhouse in the “errant ball zone,” prompting the $1 million project, which will also install new nets at the driving range. A group of neighbors have filed suit to stop the project, claiming that the work is part of a broader plan to replace the clubhouse, which they claim will add more noise, light and traffic to the neighborhood.
