2014 Golf Industry Show Reports Attendance Boost
Total attendance for the Orlando event, held February 1-6, was 14,147, an 8 percent increase over the 2013 event in San Diego. The GCSAA’s education program saw a 15 percent increase in seats sold, as well as a 14 percent increase in the number of qualified buyers on the trade show floor.
Jacobsen Introduces Bi-Directional Turf Groomer & Brush
The Textron Company launched the new system, which gives course managers the option of using either a turf groomer or a brush rotating in forward or reverse directions, at last week’s Golf Industry Show in Orlando. The switch between turf groomer and brush takes less than five minutes, allowing course managers to adapt quickly to changing conditions.

Environmental Leaders in Golf Award Winners Announced
The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and Golf Digest have named the 2013 winners, including Paul L. Carter, of The Bear Trace at Harrison Bay in Harrison, Tenn., as the overall winner. Golf course superintendents and their courses that have been named winners will be formally recognized February 5 at the 2014 Golf Industry Show in Orlando.
Club Car Plans Largest Product Launch Ever
The company has announced its largest product launch in its 56-year history, to be showcased at the PGA Merchandise Show in January and the Golf Industry Show in February. In addition to a reengineered line of Carryall utility vehicles and a lightweight electrical charging system, the launch includes the Precedent i3, which connects the golf car fleet to the golf operation via computer, smartphone or tablet.

Miacomet Golf Course in Nantucket, Mass., Tam O’Shanter Golf Course in Canton, Ohio, The Clubs of Cordillera Ranch in Boerne, Texas, and Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills, Calif., were nominated for the award. The winner will be announced on February 6 at the NGCOA Annual Conference in Orlando, Fla.
Nicklaus to Receive 2014 NGCOA Award of Merit
World Golf Hall of Famer and renowned course designer Jack Nicklaus will be honored as the recipient of the National Golf Course Owners Association’s award during its annual conference in Orlando, Fla., on February 5. The Award of Merit is the NGCOA’s longest-running award and is designated for long-term and significant contributions to the game of golf.
Stone Mountain (Ga.) GC’s Williams to Receive GCSAA Government Relations Award
The Marriott property’s Director of Grounds will be honored at the Opening Session of the Golf Industry Show in Orlando on February 5, to recognize his leadership role in helping to forge strong working relationships between the golf industry and government officials in Georgia during a prolonged period of severe drought.
Comedian Bill Engvall to Headline Closing of GCSAA Education Conference
The event, which is presented in partnership with John Deere, will conclude the conference at the 2014 Golf Industry Show in Orlando on February 6. The new GCSAA Board of Directors will be introduced and the winner of the GCSAA Collegiate Turf Bowl will be presented at the event as well.
