It is slated to be the site for up to 200 homes if the offer from Beverly Homes is accepted. But as the potential new owner, Randy Beverly, himself a shareholder in the club, says his company would be “good stewards of the golf course, compared to some of the national builders.”

Golf properties in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida are cleaning up after the storm, with most facilities now open after contending with downed trees, debris and flooding.

The club’s new Board and management team have collaborated to implement improvements at the club over the past few months, including a new roof, patio furniture, golf carts, fresh paint in the clubhouse and pool house, and new carpeting. Board members took donations and chipped in their own money to fund the improvements, and more than 100 families became members over the summer.

The Conway, S.C., property has been closed for a two-month renovation project that changed the look of several golf holes and improved drainage throughout the course. Course operators had hoped to reopen by late January, but rain slowed the project, which also included filling in low-lying areas and enlarging ponds.

The management company’s three remaining golf courses in the Myrtle Beach, S.C., area—Burning Ridge GC, Indian Wells GC, and Founders Club—are being purchased for approximately $11 million.

William Wood sued Coastal Carolina University, which owns the General James Hackler Golf Course in Conway, S.C., after a golf ball struck and damaged his truck as he drove on the nearby highway in 2011. Wood, who served as his own attorney, argued that he was more concerned with public safety than money, and that the golf course should have erected a protective wall rather than plant trees along the 14th tee.
