In order to receive the Club Managers Association of America’s Certified Club Manager designation, one must complete education requirements, attend at least one World Conference on Club Management, maintain activity within their local chapter, and pass an exam.

The management firm reported its twelth consecutive quarter of growth while saying it would not pursue being acquired for the time being, noting that it had not received a purchase proposal for the entire company. The acquisition of Oakhurst G&CC in Clarkston, Mich., is ClubCorp’s fourth this year. Eric Affeldt will retire as Chief Executive Officer upon appointment of a successor.

The Columbus, Ga., club’s golf pro and course superintendent signed a letter of intent to purchase the 18-hole golf course from W.C. Bradley Co., which put the club on the market earlier this year. The golf course will remain open under the new owners, who have both worked at the golf course since the early 1990s.

A light plane lost power and was forced to make an emergency landing in the middle of the afternoon on the 15th fairway at the Country Club of Columbus (Ga.) while top amateur golfers were practicing for the Southeastern Amateur Open—but the pilot, his passenger and everyone on the ground were all safe and uninjured.

The semi-private club on the northern edge of Columbus, Ga. is part of a master-planned development and features a golf course renovated in 2005 by Craig Shriner and 1987 Masters Champion Larry Mize. The property also includes a full-service clubhouse, tennis, swimming, walking trails and fishing lakes.

The CCE designation augments the Certified Club Manager certification and identifies club managers who have shown the ability to successfully serve as the most senior manager in a club.

The Club Managers Association of America has named 18 new members to the Honor Society, which is open to club managers who have achieved 400 additional credits beyond the Certified Club Manager designation.
