Paul Coulombe, who also owns Boothbay Harbor Country Club in Boothbay, Maine, bought the Rocktide Inn & Restaurant for $3.75 million, and work is underway to transform the space into a resort. The property will feature a new restaurant called Coastal Prime, new bar area with an updated deck, and new docks, with a grand opening party planned for May 27.
The operators of a stable that abuts the Boothbay, Maine club allowed horses to roam on the golf course, in response to the construction of what they called a “spite fence” between the properties. Club developer Paul Coulombe filed a temporary restraining order against the stable owners, which was not granted, but a hearing on the dispute is set for August 23.
The Boothbay, Maine club hosted a ribbon cutting on May 11 and will open the updated golf course on May 18, two days ahead of schedule. The clubhouse features a top-to-bottom renovation with two new restaurants, and condos will be ready within a few years.
Paul Coulombe bought the property at auction in 2013 for $1.4 million, and estimates he has invested $30 million to refurbish and expand the club’s offerings, putting an emphasis on amenities that would appeal to social members.
