Stoatin Brae, a new golf course with a Scottish influence at a southwestern Michigan resort, was built on a prime piece of property with sustainability and turf maintenance in mind.
The golf course at Gull Lake View Golf Club & Resort in Augusta, Mich., hosted a partial opening last fall, and will open all 18 holes this spring. The golf course is on a former apple orchard and due to its location, wind will play a role in the layout.
The family-owned course in Augusta, Mich., hopes to create a year-round attraction with the debut of its new Blue Stem restaurant, pairing fine dining and scenic views from the highest point in Kalamazoo County. Renee Hogge, formerly with Barton Hills CC, will be Blue Stem’s Executive Chef.
Nineteen professionals and managers will be honored at the group’s annual meeting in December, including Len Dumas, General Manager of Contra Costa CC, and Pat Finlen, Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations, The Olympic Club.
