Henrico County (Va.) to Explore Options for Belmont Golf Course

The public course has a rich history through its original design by A. W. Tillinghast and as the site of Sam Snead’s 1949 PGA Championship win. But it has been operating at a loss for most years since 2000 and the county Board of Supervisors no longer wants to proceed with $300,000 of planned renovations, choosing instead to consider bringing in outside management or repurposing the acreage.

Golden Valley CC to Stay Member-Owned

The 104-year-old club in suburban Minneapolis voted against selling to Concert Golf Partners and will remain self-managed. “Contrary to published reports, Golden Valley Country Club is not bankrupt, nor are we approaching bankruptcy,” said President Drew Fernholz. The club is engaging restoration expert Keith Foster to complete a master-planning project for its A. W. Tillinghast-designed golf course and is also launching a new “Friends and Family” membership initiative.
