On March 28, the property’s Grille Room will showcase its new modern decor, full service dine-at bar, wine lockers, and contemporary menus. The club has also named Michael Meffe as Executive Chef in conjunction with the opening.
The Sylvania (Ohio) Country Club is unveiling its $400,000 restaurant renovation on March 28, 2015. The Sylvania Area Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting ceremony on April 14.
In preparation for its centennial celebration in 2016, the club is undergoing a $2.3 million, member-funded growth and improvement project, the Second Century Campaign. The club’s restaurant, the Grille Room, underwent a $400,000 renovation and will reopen March 28, with a VIP Reception for the club’s board of directors, past presidents, and Second Century Campaign investors. The new modern décor will featured a full service dine-at bar, wine lockers and contemporary menus.
The Second Century Campaign also includes a new aquatics center with a state of the art pool, wading pool, and poolside café, with a breezeway unifying the tennis facilities with the aquatics center. The aquatics center is slated to open summer 2015. As for the club’s historic 18-hole golf course, Golf Course Architect J. Drew Rogers, ASGCA, has been hired to establish a long term improvement plan which includes an expanded short game practice facility opening fall 2015.
In conjunction with the opening, the Board of Directors has announced the hiring of Michael R. Meffe as the new Executive Chef. Meffe, with 21 years of culinary experience, comes to the club from his most recent position as executive chef and general manager of Father John’s Brewing Company in Bryan, OH. His previous fine dining experience includes leading kitchens at Chagrin Valley Hunt Club, Cleveland; Peter Shears Downtown, Canton, Ohio; Nemo Grille, Avon, Ohio; and Jacob Good Downtown, Akron, Ohio.
“I love being hands on and creating recognizable dishes with a cutting edge, trendy flair,” Meffe says. “I am excited to come to Sylvania Country Club as they reopen their beautiful new dining room and create menus that will have the members and their guests saying, wow.”
