The Troy, Mich. club, designed by Maurice Kimpe, installed a new irrigation system in 2018 and opened a new clubhouse in 2020. “It will be a day to not only celebrate our past and all Sylvan Glen has meant to golf in The Great Lake State, but to also look towards the future and the many opportunities we have to grow this sacred game,” says General Manager Trent Altieri of the anniversary.
Sylvan Glen Golf Course Troy, Mich. will celebrate its 100th Anniversary Sept. 10.
“We are overjoyed to mark this monumental milestone with our local community,” said General Manager Trent Altieri. “It will be a day to not only celebrate our past and all Sylvan Glen has meant to golf in The Great Lake State, but to also look towards the future and the many opportunities we have to grow this sacred game.”
The Maurice Kimpe-designed course has seen vast improvements throughout its history and most notably, a new irrigation system was put in place in 2018 and a new clubhouse opened in 2020. The recent updates to the clubhouse include modernizing the facility with new restrooms, office space and expanded pro shop areas.
Sylvan Glen has also enjoyed designation as a “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary” for nearly a decade by Audubon International. It maintains sound practices in six key areas: environmental planning, wildlife and habitat management, outreach and education, chemical use reduction, water conservation and water quality management.
Opening in 1922, Sylvan Glen is a classic tree lined golf course offering four sets of tees, ranging from 5,000 to 6,700 yards. The layout features an authentic Michigan setting with an abundance of wildlife and a tranquil escape for local and visiting golfers of all skill levels.
