The London-based entertainment venue, which has applied the Topgolf concept to blend elaborate indoor mini-golf courses with street-food offerings and original cocktails, will open its first U.S. location in Manhattan’s new Virgin Hotel.
London-based Swingers—which calls itself “The Crazy Golf Club” and is known for its blend of large-scale, indoor mini-golf courses, innovative curating of street food offerings and original cocktails set in an English 1920s-themed space—has leased 22,000 square feet in the basement level of the new Virgin Hotel that is under construction in New York City on Manhattan’s Broadway between between West 29th and West 30th Streets, the Commercial Observer, a New York real estate publication, reported.
The hotel would house the first U.S. location for Swingers, which has gained acclaimed in England for applying the Topgolf concept to create elaborate indoor mini-golf courses with extensive food-and-beverage offers in its two existing locations in London’s Financial District and Oxford Circus area (for photos and details, see https://www.timeout.com/london/blog/in-pictures-an-exclusive-look-inside-swingers-londons-first-permanent-crazy-golf-bar-052316 and https://thenudge.com/london-lifestyle/swingers1/)
The deal for the space in the new New York hotel is for 15 years and the asking rent was $110 per square foot, according to information provided to the Commercial Observer by Newmark Knight Frank(NKF).
“We are thrilled to be a part of Swingers’ American expansion,”said NKF’s Adam Weinblatt, who along with Mitchell Friedel represented the landlord, Lam Group, in the retail deal. “It blends seamlessly with the ongoing transformation that’s taking place in ‘NoMad,’ Manhattan’s trendiest neighborhood.”
The 39-story, 465-key Virgin Hotel is slated for completion in 2019, the Commercial Observer reported.
