In the current economic climate, the creation of more accessible forms of membership have quickly become an industry-wide trend as clubs look for additional revenue sources outside of member play.
Superstition Mountain Golf Club, which features two Nicklaus Design golf courses, The Prospector and Lost Gold, is hoping to attract new members with its “Member-for-a-Day” initiative which allows for daily fee play opportunities.
Until now the prestigious 11 year-old private club, located east of Phoenix at the base of the Superstition Mountains, has been exclusively available to members and their guests. Under the “Member-for-a-Day” initiative, one course will be open for daily fee play while the second course will remain exclusive for permanent member play. Golf course use for the two membership categories will rotate daily between the two courses.
“We’re excited to introduce Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club to both local and national golf enthusiasts,” said Doc Belitz, Vice President of Operations for OB Sports Golf Management. “Adding the Member-for-a-Day option gives us the ability to ensure the club’s future, and at the same time showcase our incredible golf courses and clubhouse to prospective members.”
Full golf memberships start at $15,000. Rates will range from $120 to $180, ($90 to $110 for Arizona residents).
