Ongoing renovations at the Sarasota, Fla., property include lighting on the nine-hole, par-3 course and driving range to eliminate dark spots for evening rounds.
As part of the renovation at Suncoast Golf Center in Sarasota, Fla., LED lights will be installed on the nine-hole par-3 course and on the driving range, the Bradenton (Fla.) Herald reported.
“Here, it never gets dark,” said Scott Lamoureaux, director of golf operations and part owner. “Suncoast Golf Center is where the sun never sets on your game. These new lights will make a difference as with the new lighting, there will be no dark spots at all.”
The ongoing renovations, which began October 1, are part of the new ownership’s efforts to improve the golf played at the center. The center is now managed by Lamoureaux Golf Consulting, the Herald reported.
While the center has remained open throughout the renovation process, it will have a grand reopening celebration December 13-14. During the event, there will be specials on member key fobs, which are used for rounds of golf or practice balls, in addition to sales on the products sold in the pro shop now fully stocked. There also will be happy-hour specials throughout the event as the center now is selling beer and wine, the Herald reported.
“We are excited of not just what we did in a short time but what we will do moving forward,” Lamoureaux said. “We are excited to introduce the facility to newcomers who are hearing about us for the first time. We’ve been waiting for this weekend for some time.”
In addition to the new lighting, the facility’s improvements include Titleist practice balls, synthetic turf inside the air-conditioned Golf Academy, tee line synthetic turf on the practice tee, FlightScope launch monitor for detailed lessons and for club fitting, advanced fitting cart, newly sodded tees and greens, a new practice bunker and tour-quality sand in all playing bunkers. There are also 10 new targets on the driving range and a new roller for smoother, faster greens, the Herald reported.
After the grand reopening weekend, Lamoureaux said the center’s next step is to let people know that golf can be played until 10 p.m., especially during this time of the year when it gets dark early. He added that the owners want to create leagues and to host special events at the center, which will be the host practice facility for the LPGA Symetra Tour Event, the Herald reported.
“We definitely want to be recognized as a great value,” Lamoureaux said. “Our goal is to maintain really nice conditions, but (also to) maintain exceptional values.”
