The Sugar Land, Texas property plans to continue the renovation of the second of its three nine-hole golf courses this year, with completion scheduled for September. For non-golf members, the clubhouse’s member dining areas, The 19th Hole Bar & Grill, and pool-side dining service will also be updated.
Sugar Creek Country Club, located southwest of the Houston metro area in Sugar Land, Texas, recently presented comprehensive plans to its membership for the continuation of a $2.5 million capital improvement project, the club reported.
Sugar Creek Country Club has partnered with Houston golf course architecture firm Jeffrey D. Blume Limited to continue the renovation of the second of its three nine-hole golf courses this year. Proposed golf course renovations include re-grading and re-grassing of all tees, fairways, and greens complexes, bunker renovations, improved drainage, enhanced water features and significant tree work. Blume will break ground on the Jones Nine in May, with completion scheduled for September.
The club has also hired NEOS Architects, a boutique architecture and interior design firm headquartered in Houston, to lead the renovation of its clubhouse renovation. The clubhouse master plan will include a complete remodel of the member dining areas, relocation and expansion of The 19th Hole Bar & Grill with an outdoor terrace, addition of a casual dining area with pool-side dining service, and a complete redesign of the kitchen service areas.
Renovation plans for the swimming pool and fitness center will be announced soon and will commence in 2014.
“We are excited to begin this next phase of our Strategic Capital Plan as 2014 will be a continuation of our efforts to reinvent Sugar Creek Country Club,” said Gordon Wagner, General Manager/CEO. “The response from our membership to last year’s Trent course renovation was extremely positive and we are all looking forward to seeing the upgrades that Jeff has designed for the Jones nine. Additionally, our non-golf members are looking forward to the renovations planned for the clubhouse, tennis, aquatics and fitness center.
“This is a very exciting time for our members, and we are committed to growing our club by providing new programs and upgraded amenities to serve and meet the demands of our changing membership and market,” said Wagner.
