Operators hope to reopen the Marshall, Mo., property by March 1 after a fire ate away interior walls and portions of the ceiling over the weekend. The fire marshal believes the blaze was caused by electrical wiring.
Stone Hedge Golf Club in Marshall, Mo., is closed after a fire early Sunday morning destroyed some of the building’s interior, the Marshall Democrat-News reported.
The blaze broke out sometime between the hours of 1-7 a.m. on January 11. Owner George Brown said no one was injured as staff members had locked up the business the previous evening and the building was empty, the Democrat-News reported.
“The fire marshal seemed 90 percent sure it was electrical wiring,” Brown said.
On Monday, crew members with the Marshall Fire Department walked through soot to assess the damage and ensure the fire was completely out, the Democrat-News reported.
“It seemed smoky this morning, so I just had them come back out and double check,” Brown said.
The fire had eaten away a couple of interior walls and portions of the ceiling. Brown noted the entire ceiling will have to be replaced because the heat popped nails and tape off of the drywall. Cleanup won’t begin until the company’s insurance adjuster examines the building, which was expected to take place Monday afternoon, the Democrat-News reported.
Brown hopes the clubhouse, which also houses a full restaurant, can re-open by March 1, but that date will be determined by the amount of restructuring that will need to be done, the Democrat-News reported.
