On July 25, the Cal Fire Battalion battled the clubhouse blaze for seven hours, with flames concentrated in the kitchen, where it likely originated, and pro shop. The club will use portable trailers temporarily as the building undergoes repairs, as the fire destroyed much of the inventory as well as the building’s structure.
An early morning fire did more than $1 million in damage to the clubhouse at the Stevinson (Calif.) Ranch Golf Club, the Modesto (Calif.) Bee reported.
Cal Fire received a call at 1:56 a.m. on July 25 from the golf club’s alarm service after a smoke alarm went off, Cal Fire Battalion Chief Gabriel Santos said.
When firefighters arrived, the clubhouse was ablaze, Santos said. The flames were concentrated in the kitchen and pro shop. The fire destroyed much of the food product and golf equipment inside the area, as well as the structure, the Bee reported.
“It’s a very high dollar loss,” Santos said.
All of the clubhouse’s employees had gone home for the night, Santos said. Mike Shapiro, the controller for Stevinson Ranch, said portable trailers will be temporarily used as a clubhouse while the building undergoes repairs, the Bee reported.
The damage to the building may exceed the estimates of firefighters, Shapiro said, adding that more than $100,000 of golf equipment and other inventory was destroyed. The flames originated in the kitchen, Shapiro said.
Firefighters were at the scene of the blaze for nearly seven hours, Santos said, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation, the Bee reported.
Five Cal Fire engines, two water tenders, a rescue unit and a chief officer accompanied the 18 firefighters who fought the blaze, the Bee reported.
The Stevinson Ranch Golf Club’s Savannah Course was used in 1996 and 1997 as a U.S. Open Championship qualifier, the Bee reported.
