Renowned former amateur golfer Steve Scott has been named the new head golf professional at The Ridge at Back Brook, a highly acclaimed, Tom Fazio-designed private club located in Ringoes, N.J., between Princeton and Flemington. Most recently, Scott served for one year on the professional staff at Hidden Creek, a highly acclaimed New Jersey private club in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.
Scott is best known for his memorable and thrilling match against Tiger Woods in the finals of the 1996 U.S. Amateur Championship at Pumpkin Ridge in Portland, Oregon, during which Woods staged a miraculous comeback to win on the 38th hole after having been five down at one point in the match. Scott turned professional in 1999, having been ranked as the #1 amateur golfer in the United States by Golfweek Magazine at the time.
