Eighteen greens of the Bonita Springs, Fla. property’s 27 holes of golf have been returfed with Tif-Eagle bermudagrass as part of the project, and drainage and irrigation improvements have been made. The kitchen of the 32,000-sq. ft. clubhouse has also been renovated. The club was purchased by its community association last year, and Billy Casper Golf was retained for its management.
Spanish Wells Golf & Country Club in Bonita Springs, Fla. is in the final stages of a $1.5 million renovation project that features enhancements to its South and East courses as well as the clubhouse.
As a result of the project, eighteen greens of the property’s 27 holes of golf now contain Tif-Eagle bemudagrass, and green surrounds have been re-shaped and re-grassed. A restoration of the lake bank, drainage and irrigation improvements, and new clubhouse landscaping round out the project.
A significant update to the 32,000-sq. ft. clubhouse is the renovated kitchen, designed to enhance the culinary experience and add to the commitment to quality dining also reflected by the recent hiring of award-winning Executive Chef Scott Savage.
Last year, the Spanish Wells Community Association purchased Spanish Wells Golf & Country Club, in line with its mission to protect open space and increase home values. In addition to 27 golf holes, the Spanish Wells property offers a practice facility featuring an aqua driving range, pitching and chipping area, separate practice area for sand play, and a large putting green.
“Spanish Wells is thriving, as is the $84 billion golf industry,” said Bill Shiles, General Manager. “Golfers are raving about the new elements to the course, all rave about the clubhouse, and new members and guests are lining up to be part of our community vibe.”
