SouthWood Golf Club—the Tallahasee-Fla.-based Fred Couples and Gene Bates-designed course owned by The St. Joe Company and managed by Billy Casper Golf—announces it will host its fifth annual Pitch-Putt-Drive Junior Contest on Sunday, November 1 at 2 p.m.
Admission is $10 and open to juniors between the ages of five and 17, with participates being placed in divisions based on age. During the first stage of competition golfers will pitch three shots from the same location and receive points for proximity to the cup. Next, they attempt a short and long putt, and points will be combined for the number of strokes needed to sink both. Finally, juniors will get two drives and receive points for the longest drive that lands within the 40-yard-wide fairway.
Winners are determined by a scoring system that ranks participants based on cumulative place finishes during each competition. The best combined scores win, and trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age division. All contestants will receive a custom embroidered SouthWood Golf Club hat featuring the event name and year.
“This is a great chance for juniors to get involved in the game and develop their skills in a friendly competitive setting,” says Beth Murphy, General Manager of SouthWood Golf Club. “SouthWood has hosted the event for the past five years and it has proven to be a great way to get young people interested in the sport and grow the game of golf in our region.”
