Somersett Golf & Country Club in Reno, Nev., has broken ground on a new clubhouse.
The 17,853-sq. ft., $3.1 million facility is slated to open in spring 2017. LPGA Hall of Fame golfer Patty Sheehan, Reno City Council member Neoma Jardon, and UNR Men’s Golf Coach Jacob Wilner were on hand for the groundbreaking ceremony.
“Building a clubhouse to provide our members with the complete country club experience they deserve has been a goal of ours for some time,” said Board President Glen Armstrong. “This clubhouse will be spectacular and we are thrilled to be breaking ground today.”
The new clubhouse design will complement the style of the community and feature multiple dining areas, a bar, golf shop, locker rooms, members-only lounge, a multi-use room, meeting room, kitchen, offices, an outdoor patio and underground cart and bag storage. Each area of the new clubhouse will offer distinct and different atmospheres, taking advantage of the stunning views of the Sierra.
Somersett Golf & Country Club currently has 300 members, two-thirds of whom are equity members, and will accept a total of 450 members.
