Supervisors in Exeter Township, Pa. approved a proposal for conceptual design of site improvements for the country club property that would include a second point of access, parking lot expansion, relocating the maintenance shed, paving all of the golf cart paths for additional use by runners, walkers and bicyclists, and repairs to the stream bank. A proposal for an energy audit of the clubhouse was also approved.
Proposals impacting the Reading (Pa.) Country Club were the center point of the August 27th meeting of the Exeter Township (Pa.) Supervisors, reported WFMZ-TV.
Supervisors heard from John Granger, township manager, about three proposals to prepare a conceptual design of site improvements for the country club property, WFMZ reported. Granger recommended that the supervisors approve a proposal from Pennoni Associates in the amount of $49,875. Other proposals were received from Simone Collins at $49,875 and Spotts, Stevens & McCoy at $27,600.
In recommending Pennoni, Granger said, “This is a much more robust proposal than the others. Their graphic capabilities are the best, and they will deliver the best design for the money.”
The supervisors voted 3 to 1 to accept the Pennoni proposal, with Chairperson Lois VanderLaan voting no.
The conceptual design is expected to make recommendations regarding a second point of access to the country club property; parking lot expansion; relocating the maintenance shed; paving all of the golf cart paths for additional use by runners, walkers and bicyclists; and repairs to the stream bank, reported WFMZ.
VanderLaan questioned the need to spend money on a study that looks at part of the property before supervisors approve a master plan that includes the property as well as the former clubhouse, WFMZ reported.
Granger responded that without expanding the parking lot and adding a second access that will allow visitors to leave and drive east on Route 422, the country club could lose banquet and party business, reported WFMZ.
The supervisors also received three proposals to conduct an energy audit at the Reading CC clubhouse from Entech Engineering, Inc. (for $7,500), Consolidated Engineers (for $7,500) and Barton Associates, Inc. (for $10,000), reported WFMZ.
Granger recommended the proposal from Barton because it was the most complete, but said he would also be satisfied if Consolidated Engineers were selected.
The supervisors voted 4-0 to accept the proposal from Barton Associates, reported WFMZ.
