Mounding was removed on holes No. 14 and 16, and bunkers were relocated.
The Padre Course at the Camelback Inn Resort & Spa, Scottsdale, Ariz., had a couple of holes where the sight lines weren’t the best from the tee box, reports Kirk Hardin, Director of Golf Grounds at the resort. “We wanted to improve those holes by moving some mounds and relocating bunkers.”
Fairway landing areas on holes No. 14 and No. 16 were reshaped. Previously, both holes featured extensive mounding with bunkers in the middle of the fairway. On 14, a new bunker was cut on the left side of the fairway and the high mounding was removed. A similar approach was taken with 16.
The work started in June.
“Now you can see from the tee box how the hole is supposed to be played,” said Hardin. “The golfers who have played it so far really like it.”
