The Stevens Point, Wis., club closed last year for construction and remained tight-lipped on renovation plans. The club has since revealed that the golf course will have new greens, white sand and longer holes, while a new pro shop, tennis courts, restaurant and banquet space are also in the works.
SentryWorld Golf Club in Stevens Point, Wis., gave north central Wisconsin’s WAOW 9 News a sneak peak at ongoing renovations.
“The once-a-month golfer is going to find it a lot easier to manage and the better golfer is going to have more options,” said Head Golf Professional Brian Dumler of the updated golf course.
The golf course closed last year for construction and though plans remained under wraps at the time, the club will reveal brand new greens, white sand and longer holes on its golf course when it reopens, WAOW reported.
“Most of the holes are about the same, but there are some changes, some different angles we’re using, some different parts of the property. So yeah, it’s a different golf course,” said Dumler.
SentryWorld’s website details the irrigation, tee box, greens and grass portions of the renovation.
SentryWorld also announced another project, with a new pro shop, tennis courts, restaurant and banquet space in the works, WAOW reported.
“It’s going to be a real revitalization not only to this property, but to the area,” said Director of Hospitality Susan Placzek.
Company officials won’t reveal a price tag for the projects, but said they are entirely funded by SentryWorld, WAOW reported.
“To renew our business and revitalize and reinvent and to keep up, we have to improve,” said Placzek.
In the sports facility, and out on the golf course, there’s still a lot of work to do before the doors can open late next summer, WAOW reported.
“It truly will be worth it,” said Placzek.
