Executive Chefs Dan Scannell, Oak Hill Country Club, and Charles Carroll, River Oaks Country Club, will serve on a 10-judge panel for the inaugural Dubai World Hospitality Championship. Scannell and his team were featured in C&RB’s September 2013 cover story and Carroll will provide the keynote address at the 2014 Chef to Chef Conference in San Antonio.
Dan Scannell, Executive Chef at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y., will serve as one of 10 judges at the Dubai World Hospitality Championship culinary competition, to be held November 16-18 in the United Arab Emirates city.
Executive Chef Charles Carroll, who is currently the Executive Chef of River Oaks Country Club, in Houston, Texas, will also be part of the judging panel for the international competition. Carroll will provide the keynote address at the 2014 Chef to Chef Conference, held March 2-4 in San Antonio.
The inaugural event of the Dubai World Hospitality Championship will feature 12 teams of culinary masters from around the world who are well recognized on the international circuit, and regularly compete in some of the world’s best known culinary competitions.
The competing country teams will include Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Russia, Singapore, Slovenia, South Africa, UAE, USA, and Wales.
Gissur Gudmundsson, President of the World Association of Chefs, set up the distinguished panel of judges from around the world, led by Chef Otto Weibel from Singapore.
The competition will task the competing national teams to prepare a five-course gourmet menu for 50 guests. The dishes will be evaluated by the distinguished panel following a strict guideline of criteria set out by the World Association of Chefs.
