The JW Marriott San Antonio Hill (Texas) Country Resort & Spa won’t open until January 2010. But resort officials are working now, in a tough economy, to book rooms and meeting space in the 1,002-room hotel.
Despite the economic uncertainties, resort marketers have had some significant pre-opening success. Arthur Coulombe, general manager for the resort, says the property is attracting business that is new to the Alamo City.
“At this point, we have just under 200,000 room nights already on the books,” Coulombe explains. “That’s a very good number — particularly in light of what is generally a slower economic time for really all businesses.”
The resort, when complete, will boast 140,000 square feet of conference and meeting space, a 6.5-acre water park and a 26,000-square-foot spa with 30 treatment rooms.
