Meadows Farms Golf Course in Locust Grove, Va., will soon be on the market, the Fredericksburg (Va.) Free Lance-Star reported.
Meadows Farms Inc., which owns the 27-hole golf course, plans to put the course up for sale by the end of the year, said company President Jay Meadows. Marcus & Millichap will be the listing broker, the Lance-Star reported.
The asking price for the 265-acre golf course has not been finalized, Meadows said, and he anticipates that the buyer will continue to run it as a golf course. Several prospects have already expressed interest, the Lance-Star reported.
Meadows Farms founder Bill “Farmer” Meadows helped design the course, which opened in 1993. The course has a number of signature features, including an 841-yard, par-six hole that is billed as the longest in the U.S., the Lance-Star reported.
Jay Meadows said it wasn’t an easy decision to put the course up for sale, but “it’s just the right time for our family.” Meadows Farms Inc. will continue to operate its garden center stores and landscaping division, the Lance-Star reported.
