After opening its new $1.8 million Tennis Center last April, the Boca Raton, Fla. club has brought in Harrison, an ATP Tour World player who has been ranked as high as 43rd, to enhance the club’s tennis programs and take the next steps to “revitalizing and rebuilding Boca West as a tennis destination.”
Boca West Country Club, Boca Raton, Fla., has partnered with Ryan Harrison, an ATP Tour World player who has been ranked as high as 43rd in the world, as the next key step in what the club calls its “long-term strategy to revitalize and rebuild Boca West as a tennis destination.”
Boca West opened its new $1.8 million Tennis Center in April 2013, unveiling a lighted stadium court with seating for 325. The new facility also features a patio lounge viewing area with three televisions, a special golf cart and bicycle parking area, a tennis pro shop with meeting area and large-screen television, an outdoor beverage station and an expanded parking lot.
Harrison recently moved to South Florida from Texas to train at the United States Tennis Association’s National Tennis Center in Boca Raton. In his new role with Boca West, he will now be seen on the club’s courts when his schedule permits, along with occasional appearances at the club’s tennis events throughout the year.
“Making the move from Texas to Florida was a big step for my career, and the people and facilities at Boca West Country Club have made the transition even better,” Harrison said. “I am excited to be part of this community.”
“We welcome Ryan in his new role with Boca West Country Club,” said Jay DiPietro, the club’s President and General Manager. “We look forward to working with him to enhance our tennis programs offered at the club, and believe this partnership will strengthen not only our brand but also a renewed interest in the sport of tennis.”
Harrison ranked among top-ten juniors on the International Tennis Federation’s 18-and-under world rankings, and was the highest-ranked American Junior player in the world by age 15.
In 2012, he reached three ATP World Tour singles semifinals and won his second ATP World Tour Doubles Title in Atlanta, with Matt Ebden. Harrison was selected to represent the U.S. in the Davis Cup as well as the Olympics, and he partnered with his younger brother, Christian, for the first time at the U.S. Open, where they made an exciting run to the quarterfinals.
Boca West received the USTA’s 2013 Outstanding Tennis Facility award and has played host to numerous tennis exhibitions throughout the years that have featured former and current world-class players, including Chris Evert, Jennifer Capriati, Martina Navratilova, Stan Smith, Aaron Krickstein, Tom Gullickson and Fred Stolle. Boca West has also hosted the USTA French Open Wild-Card Tournament for the past several years.
