With the addition of the Mount Laurel, N.J., property, the company now owns a stake in seven Philadelphia-area clubs. The property will undergo renovations, including irrigation and drainage improvements on the golf course, while the clubhouse will close to update the interiors, upgrade an outdoor wedding ceremony area, and add a tavern.
Two famous Philadelphia-area quarterbacks are among those who have acquired Ramblewood Country Club in Mount Laurel, N.J., the Cherry Hill, N.J.-based Courier-Post reported.
Ron Jaworski, the former Philadelphia Eagle, and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco are among the partners who own the 27-hole course. Jaworski, through his company Ron Jaworski Golf, now owns a stake in seven Philadelphia-area clubs, including Blue Heron Pines in Galloway, RiverWinds Golf & Tennis Club in West Deptford, Running Deer in Pittsgrove, and Valleybrook Country Club in Blackwood, the Courier-Post reported.
Ramblewood first opened as two nine-hole courses in 1962; a third nine-hole course was added a decade later. The new ownership group, which also includes partners Ken Kochenour, Ira Lubert, and Peter Slack, promises extensive renovations, the Courier-Post reported.
RJG Executive Vice President BJ Jaworski indicated the golf course will undergo renovations during the first quarter of 2016, including irrigation and drainage improvements, bunker work and tree work for optimal sunlight and air movement, the Courier-Post reported.
The clubhouse also will close for renovations, including new interiors for the banquet room and other areas. The outdoor wedding ceremony area will get landscaping and other upgrades. A tented area with grills and televisions for golfers to gather will also be added. The country club will include a bar called SEVEN Tap & Tavern with craft beers, food and large-screen television sets, the Courier-Post reported.
Previously owned by the Goodwin family, the club will retain John Goodman as General Manager. The Goodwin family had owned it for more than 50 years, the Courier-Post reported.
“We are very proud to add Ramblewood to our outstanding collection of courses under the Ron Jaworski Golf umbrella,” Jaworski said. “We invite all golfers to experience the golf course and take advantage of the many affordable membership and daily fee options available.
“We are also very excited to preserve and build upon Ramblewood’s reputation as an exceptional wedding, banquet and dining venue.”
