The owner of the popular nine-hole club in Canton, Mo. wants to spend more time operating his family-owned farm. A full line of golf equipment is part of the sale package.
The nine-hole River View Golf Course in Canton, Mo. has been put up for sale by owner Allen Brinkley, who purchased the privately-run club in 2007 and opened it to the public.
ConnectTriStates.com reported last week that Brinkley had decided to spend more time with his growing family and operating his family-owned farm. Jason Wallingford, internet broker for the 68-acre property which sits on a river bluff between Canton and Le Grange and possesses three ponds, said offers for the entire package will be considered up until October 1st.
“Once the course is listed on the auction block, it will then go to the highest bidder,” Wallingford added. “It could even be divided up into separate parcels and the golf course could go away.”
A good deal of interest has already been generated just by word of mouth, Wallingford said, who noted he has already received several calls. “Not only are we selling the course but also a full line of golf equipment,” he added. “There will be a ton of interest in that.”
Brinkley said the course does host some private outings and that it’s also home to the golf teams of Culver Stockton College and Canton High School.
