A trial over allegations of mismanagement at the River Terrace Golf Course in Channelview, Texas has been rescheduled to begin as early as October 23rd, the Houston Chronicle reported. The trial was scheduled to begin in September but then postponed after Hurricane Harvey damaged Harris County courthouses.
Disgruntled members of the 18-hole community golf course accuse the Channelview Golf Association and its directors of mismanagement, the Chronicle reported. They sued the association two years ago and are seeking regular elections, periodic membership meetings and repayment of any misappropriated funds. The lawyer representing the association calls the lawsuit groundless.
The course is owned by the chemical company LyondellBasell, which built it 20 years ago to support the working-class community where many of its employees live, the Chronicle reported. The company then turned operations over to the nonprofit association.
While the trial is scheduled to begin on October 23rd, the start could be delayed up to two weeks if other cases don’t end as soon as expected, the Chronicle reported. Harris County state district judge Fredericka Phillips will hear the case.
