The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection includes plans for three cruise ships to accommodate “the 1 percent of global travelers,” and is set to begin sailing in 2020. The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota (Fla.) has been sold for $171 million, while a nearby 22-acre plot was also sold for $9.7 million and is entitled for residential development.
Last year, the Ritz-Carlton Hotel revealed plans for a luxury cruise line, with three cruise ships set to begin sailing in 2020. This May, reservations will be open to Ritz-Carlton reward members, and to all others in June 2018, the South China Morning Post reported.
Somewhere between a private superyacht and a small ocean liner, the Ritz-Carlton cruise ships will accommodate the “the 1 percent of global travelers,” according to Bloomberg.
The new Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is designed to defy all cruise ship stereotypes, with larger rooms, relaxing common spaces, and an on-board spa. The cruise ships boast 149 suites—each with their own private terrace—accommodating up to 298 guests. There will also be high-end dining options, including a restaurant from Sven Elverfeld of Aqua—the three Michelin-starred restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton, Wolfsburg, the Morning Post reported.
“This unique combination of yachting and cruising will usher in a new way of luxury travel for guests seeking to discover the world,” said Herve Humler, president and chief operating officer of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company in a press release.
The Ritz-Carlton cruise ships will explore the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and New England. Trip itineraries will offer less time at sea, and more time to explore the smaller ports. During each trip, local talent, such as chefs, artists, and guest lecturers, will provide a variety of entertainment throughout the cruise. As partnerships are still in the process of being arranged for day activities and excursions, prices are yet to be set, the Morning Post reported.
In other Ritz-Carlton news, The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota (Fla.) has been sold for $171 million. In addition, a nearby 22-acre plot of vacant land was also sold for $9.7 million, Hotel Management reported.
This land is currently entitled for residential development adjacent to the hotel’s golf course. The company financed the hotel with a $100-million non-recourse mortgage loan, and the property will continue to operate as a Ritz-Carlton hotel under a management agreement with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, Management reported.
The hotel includes 266 guestrooms and 31 suites, the 27,000-sq. ft. Ritz-Carlton Beach Club, the 15,000-sq. ft. Ritz-Carlton Spa Club, and the Tom Fazio-designed 18-hole Ritz-Carlton Golf Club. The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota is recognized for its range of offerings, including a historic Tiki Bar on the sand in front of the Beach Club to one of the best upscale waterfront restaurant’s in Sarasota, Jack Dusty.
