Jack’s Restaurant and Pub, named in honor of property owner Melanie Boese’s late husband, is now open seven days a week after a series of repairs and renovations that took place over two years. The restaurant, which is open to the public, offers what Executive Chef Jordan Wong describes as “elevated pub food.”
Golfers getting off the green are pulling up to seats at Jack’s Restaurant and Pub at the Brattleboro (Vt.) Country Club, the Brattleboro Reformer reported.
“I’m looking forward to a busy season,” said club owner Melanie Boese. “Hopefully there will be lots of golfers and hungry golfers.”
Since Sunday, after a series of repairs and renovations over the past two years, the restaurant and bar has been open seven days a week. Formerly known as the Fairway Tavern and Restaurant, the new name pays homage to Boese’s husband, Jack Judge, who died in 2015, about a year after the couple purchased the club, the Reformer reported.
Although road closures associated with Interstate 91 bridge construction might have turned some away from the official grand reopening of the restaurant on Saturday, Boese said she was just glad people were there, the Reformer reported.
“There seems to be new people here almost every night,” she said, hoping to host another event to introduce FlingGolf soon.
With any luck, FlingGolf will be as popular as GolfBoards, which were brought to the club last year. Boese said she has been looking at new things to bring more people to the property, the Reformer reported.
Executive Chef Jordan Wong, who has worked at several local establishments, was welcoming golfers and members of the public into the newly renovated bar and restaurant on Saturday, the Reformer reported.
“It’s been exciting for sure,” Wong said. “People are getting into the fact that I’m local and open to suggestions.”
Wong called selections on the menu at Jack’s “elevated pub food” and said the kitchen staff tries to take on as much of the preparations “in house” as they can, the Reformer reported.
Bartender Jess Galdamez also has local roots. “Everyone has been so happy, very surprised and very appreciative of what Mel’s done with the place,” Galdamez said, adding that she thought word was beginning to spread about the golf course being open to the public.
