The partnership is designed to enhance the summer-activity offerings of the Newry, Maine property, which is part of the Boyne Resorts portfoilio. The Sunday River CC golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and has been rated as Maine’s top course.
The Sunday River Resort in Newry, Maine has entered into an agreement with the current owners of the Sunday River Country Club to operate the club’s golf course, beginning in May 2019.
Located near Sunday River Resort’s Jordan Hotel, the course will enhance the resort’s summer-activity offerings, which include scenic chairlift rides, disc golf, ziplines, hiking, and classes in stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, and archery from the L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery Schools.
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the Sunday River CC golf course has been named the top golf course in Maine by Golfweek and Golf Advisorand one of the Top 10 Best New Upscale Public Courses by Golf Digest. The 18-hole championship course features dramatic elevation changes, mountain views, a log-built clubhouse, and a mountainside practice facility.
The Sunday River Resort is located minutes from Bethel Village in western Maine’s Mahoosuc Mountains. In addition to the Sunday River CC golf course, the resort is a true four-season destination, offering eight interconnected peaks of world-class skiing and snowboarding, two resort hotels and an inn, and numerous events throughout the year.

The parent company to Sunday River, Boyne Resorts, has extensive experience in operating premier golf courses In Michigan, including two courses at Boyne Mountain Resort, three at the Bay Harbor Golf Club and the nearby Crooked Tree Golf Club, and four at Boyne Highlands Resort, including The Heather, which was named the 2019 Golf Course of the Year by the National Golf Course Owners Association.
Boyne Resorts also runs Big Sky Golf Course in Montana and the Sugarloaf Golf Club in Maine.
