The Sanford, N.C., property has been acquired by a newly formed investment group, Green Tee Associates, from the Hall family, which had owned and operated the club since 1993. Ron Hall Jr. will be retained as the club’s head professional. A grand reopening is planned for May 12.
Carolina Lakes Golf Club, a 128-acre, semi-private, 18-hole course in Sanford, N.C., has been sold to a private group of investors, formed as Green Tee Associates Inc., from among residents of the private gated community surrounding the club, the Aberdeen (N.C.)Timesreported.
Carolina Lakes had been owned and operated by the Hall family since 1993, the Timesreported, with Ron Hall, Sr. serving as General Manager, and his son, Ron Hall, Jr. has served as the club’s head USGA Professional.
The group that formed Green Tee Associates to buy the club from the Halls was led by Jean Hubbard, the Times reported. The purchase was completed on March 15thand a public grand reopening of the club is planned for May 12th.
As a part of the transition, Ron Hall Jr. will remain as the club’s head USGA Professional.
“Green Tee believes this arrangement will be important to the success of the course moving forward,” Hubbard explained . “Ron Hall Jr. has built an impeccable reputation in the community as a golf professional, and his presence continues to attract and maintain our customer base. We’re very excited about our working relationship.”
The investment group has several improvements and upgrades planned for the property, the Times reported.
Carolina Lakes opened in 1982, with a golf course designed by Roger Rulewich, who at the time was the senior designer for Robert Trent Jones Sr. The par-70 course measures 6,400 yards and features Bermuda 419 fairways and bent grass greens.
The grand re-opening celebration for the community and general public will be held on Saturday, March 12th, from 5 to 8 p.m., with free putting-range balls, music, raffles, food trucks and more. Raffle prizes will include a year membership to the club, golf lessons, club apparel and other items.
