The once private dining area of the Pueblo del Sol Country Club in Sierra Vista, Ariz. is re-opening its doors to the public next month. Beginning in January, anyone can eat at the club’s restaurant.
The decision to open the restaurant to the public was made by the club’s owners, Castle & Cooke, after discussions with the club’s Board of Governors, which represents club members.
“We’ve had several non-members inquiring about opening it up to the public,” said John O’Neill, general manager of the Club. “We had a bigger draw when we were open to the public, so we want to get that feeling again.”
The dining area went private in September 2004.
Executive Chef Tim Benham said in an article in the Sierra Vista Herald/Review the club’s staff members are making changes to the menu to appeal to as many people as possible.
“We’re offering more Southwest offerings and home-style favorites. More comfort foods,” Benham said. “We’re simplifying the types of foods, but doing it with a very high quality of items and making it from scratch in-house.”
New hours also will be introduced next month.
