A 30,586-sq. ft., three-story lodge with 24 guest rooms would be located next to the first tee of the Bedminster, N.J. club’s Meadows Course. The building would have an elevator, meeting rooms, offices and a small prep kitchen. Other aspects of the proposed expansion that will be reviewed by the local township’s Land Use Board include constructing a new pool with 10 new cabanas; building an addition to the pro shop for the starter; expanding the golf academy building; building three lighted paddle tennis courts and two lighted pickleball courts; converting the existing fitness building into a laundry building, and widening the driveway at the front entrance to the club.
A proposal to build a lodge with 24 guest rooms and a new wellness and fitness building at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club in Bedminster, N.J. will be reviewed by the township’s Land Use Board, MyCentralJersey.com reported.
The only private 54-hole golf club in New Jersey also wants to expand its pool building and construct a new pool with 10 new cabanas; build an addition to the pro shop for the starter; expand the golf academy building; and build three lighted paddle tennis courts and two lighted pickleball courts,MyCentralJersey.com reported.
The plans also call for the existing fitness building to be converted to a laundry building and to widen the driveway at the front entrance to the club, MyCentralJersey.com reported.
A public hearing on the proposal is scheduled for the evening of March 3rd, both in-person at the municipal building and virtually on Zoom, MyCentralJersey.com reported.
The 30,586-sq. ft., three-story lodge (see rendering above) would be next to the first tee of the Meadows Course north of the clubhouse, MyCentralJersey.com reported. The building would have an elevator, meeting rooms, offices and a small prep kitchen.
The lodge would be designed by F.J. Rawding Architecture of Morristown, N.J., which has designed buildings at other New Jersey golf clubs, including Pine Valley, Baltusrol, Somerset Hills and Plainfield, MyCentralJersey.com reported.
The driveway to the club would be realigned to accommodate the new building and 11 new parking spaces, MyCentralJersey.com reported.
The new wellness and fitness center would have a gym, group classrooms, a WeWork space, spa, locker rooms and a tennis pro shop, MyCentralJersey.com reported. The pool building would be expanded for a dining area and bar, a child play area and expanded laundry facilities.
More lighting is also planned for the existing tennis courts, MyCentralJersey.com reported.
A variance is needed for the height of the lodge, MyCentralJersey.com reported; township zoning regulations allow a maximum of 35 feet and 38 feet is proposed.
A variance is also required for the lodge because township zoning allows overnight accommodations in the clubhouse or buildings constructed prior to the construction of the golf course, MyCentralJersey.comreported.
Bedminster had previously approved the construction of six cottages at the facility, each containing four bedrooms, but they were never built, MyCentralJersey.com reported.
