The members-only Intown Golf Club is planning a 15,000-sq.-ft. location in Radnor, Pa. The facility will include eight simulator bays and golf lounges with technology from TrackMan. It will also feature a putting green with technology from PuttView. The club will have a private dining room and conference space, as well as a great room with a fireplace.
Intown Golf Club, an Atlanta-based members-only social club for golfers, has signed a lease in Radnor, Pa., the Philadelphia Business Journal reported. When it opens in early 2024, the establishment will feature golf simulator bays, a putting green and a full food-and-beverage program.
Club + Resort Business reported on Intown Golf Club’s flagship location in 2020.
The company chose Philadelphia because of its golf heritage, high concentration of historic clubs and inclement weather that shortens its golf season, according to co-founder and CEO Michael Williamson, the Business Journal reported.
“Most of [the] major cities in the U.S. have run out of real estate to build golf courses — what was built 100 years ago is what you’ve got. So there tends to be limited options for those living and working in metropolitan areas,” Williamson said in an e-mailed statement. “Intown Golf Club seeks to solve for the barriers of proximity, time and cost of play, and the fact that the best private golf clubs tend to be out of reach for most.”
Intown Golf Club landed on Radnor specifically for the convenience of its members, the company said. St. Davids Golf Club, John Cappelli Golf Range and Gulph Mills Golf Club are all nearby, the Business Journal reported.
The venue will encompass approximately 15,000 sq. ft. of front-of-house and support space, with an additional roughly 2,500 sq. ft. of space for future use, the Business Journal reported. It will be located in the Radnor Financial Center, a Brandywine Realty Trust property with more than 251,000 sq. ft. of office space.
Intown Golf Club’s Philadelphia outpost will include eight simulator bays and golf lounges with technology from TrackMan that tracks the trajectory of golf balls, the Business Journal reported. It will also feature a putting green with technology from PuttView that uses a projector and tracker to provide putting assistance and interactive learning.
The location will have a private dining room and conference space, as well as a great room with a fireplace, the Business Journal reported. The entire facility will accommodate around 250 people.
The club’s food-and-beverage program will be developed in partnership with Fred Castellucci III, CEO of Castellucci Hospitality Group, the Business Journal reported. The restaurant group owns and operates five concepts in and around Atlanta.
Created by Atlanta architectural and interior design firm ai3, the Philadelphia location’s design incorporates the city’s rich history, the Business Journal reported.
The club hopes to start construction on the space sometime in the summer but declined to provide the estimated build-out cost, the Business Journal reported. Intown Golf Club expects the Radnor outpost to employ around 50 people.
Pricing starts at around $6,000 for the club’s social membership and at $8,500 for a golf membership, the Business Journal reported. These are one-time initiation fees, with separate monthly dues at different rates based on the membership type and tier, as well as the individual’s age.
While Intown Golf Club is members-only, it encourages its members to bring guests. The club relies largely on referrals, but anyone is welcome to apply for a membership, according to a company representative, the Business Journal reported. Intown Golf Club’s original location opened in 2021 in Atlanta’s Buckhead neighborhood.
