Local golfers who frequent Princeton Country Club, West Windsor, N.J., would be amazed by its current condition after Hurricane Irene rampaged through the par-70 course, reports The Trentonian.
Golfers are accustomed to flooding on holes No. 13 through 17, but earlier this month the course resembled Lake Erie.
Holes No.s 2, 5 and 6 were covered with about 5 feet of water, while 200 yards of No. 3 had yielded to an overflow of the Delaware & Raritan Canal.
Branches scattered the landscape while high winds brought down a 70-foot tree on the left side of hole 18.
Water moved to within several feet of two bridges which provide access over the D&R Canal. Normally a 15-20 foot drop, walkers could literally reach down and touch water.
