The manufacturer of golf course equipment is expected to purchase the Oconomowoc, Wis., property in a sale that could close mid-April. The 18-hole golf course was previously known as Rolling Hills Country Club, and was sold in 2015 for $1.3 million.
The La Belle Golf Club in Oconomowoc, Wis., is expected to be sold to the Prestwick Group, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
According to both La Belle owner John Meunier and Prestwick Vice President Tyler Morse, the sale is pending and could close mid-April, the Journal Sentinel reported.
“They do have fantastic plans in the works for the property,” Meunier said. “It’s just going to enhance this property for the community. It’s going to be a fantastic golf property once they’re finished.”
The 18-hole golf course was known as Rolling Hills Country Club for a time before Meunier, Frank Romano and Troy Schmidt took over in July 2015. The trio purchased the property from the First Bank Financial Centre of Oconomowoc for $1.335 million, the Journal Sentinel reported.
“Things have been going great,” Meunier said. “I’m just really proud of getting this property relevant again. Sales are up, bookings are up, golf memberships are up, golf outings are up. The property has its feel back.”
The course dates back to 1896 and was once a private club, the Journal Sentinel reported.
“I had no intention of selling but got into a conversation with the guys at Prestwick, and they made an offer to purchase,” Meunier said. “It hasn’t been up for sale; we were all set to plan for this golf season. I know Tyler, we started talking and one thing led to another. They’ve got these big plans for this property that is something that is going to be just wonderful.”
Prestwick was founded in 1997 by Matt Morse, Tyler’s father, under the name Great Lakes Golf Course Products and makes plastic tables, chairs, signs, trash bins, towel caddies and other equipment for golf courses, swimming pools and other venues. In 2007, the company moved its operations to Oconomowoc and became known as the Prestwick Golf Group, the Journal Sentinel reported.
