The Egg Harbor Township, N.J., property was featured on Food Network’s “Restaurant: Impossible,” and had the best business of the season during the week the episode aired.
“Golf Impossible” was the title of the episode that recently featured Pomona Golf & Country Club in Egg Harbor Township, N.J., on “Restaurant: Impossible,” a popular Food Network show, the Linwood (N.J.)-based WMGM-TV reported.
With only two days and $10,000, co–owners say the show was able to accomplish something more than they ever imagined. “An experience of a lifetime, I’m very happy that we did it,” said Andrea Truitt, co-owner of the property.
“It was overwhelming,” said Truitt. “It was a three days of fast and furious and we ended up with this new porch, new clubhouse and a lot of new business.”
The episode having recently premiered, co–owners say they have seen a tremendous uptick in business, WMGM-TV reported.
“The show aired last Wednesday for the first time and we’ve had the best week we’ve had all season,” said Truitt.
“We’re all happy and we hope it continues,” said Pamela Grenda, another co-owner.
Little change to the clubhouse in its 45 years, a lack of advertising to attract new customers and strained family relationships all contributed to the business’ financial struggles, WMGM-TV reported.
“People that lived in the neighborhood didn’t realize that we were open to the public that was one of major thing we learned from this experience,” explained Grenda.
Within the short timeline, the family owned nine–hole golf course and clubhouse received a facelift, new menu and a new outlook on the business, WMGM-TV reported.
“Food here has improved a hundred percent. Presentation a thousand percent,” said customer Michael Walker of Savannah, GA.
“The fairway and greens are really nice and everything has been updated a little bit so we definitely will be back obviously,” said resident and customer Wayne Richardson.
C&RB reported on the club’s makeover as filming finished in May (“Pomona G&CC Gets ‘Restaurant: Impossible’ Makeover“).
