A lifelong golf enthusiast, Natalia Arlint has been selected as one of 10 people on the maintenance team for the Ryder Cup Course when the 42nd Ryder Cup is held in France from September 28-30.
A Polson, Mont., golf course maintenance professional has been selected as one of the 10 member representatives from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America who wil serve on the maintenance team for the Ryder Cup Course, Montanasports.com reported.
The 42nd Ryder Cup Matches will be held in France from Sept. 28–30 at the Albatros Course of Le Golf National in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, a suburb southwest of Paris
For Natalia Arlint, Superintendent of Polson Bay Golf Course, golf has been a way of life – she’s been around the sport since her grandparents introduced her to the game at the age of 4, Montanasports.com reported.
After she attended turf management school at Rutgers University, Arlint has climbed the maintenance ladder to earn the top job at Polson Bay, according to Montanasports.com.
“A year after I graduated in 2010, I applied to be a flower girl here at Polson Bay, since I love to be in the outdoors and figured, ‘Hey, it sounds like a good summer job,’” Arlint told Montanasports.com.
Polson Bay features 27 holes with lake and mountain views and is the only golf course with fairways adjacent to the shores of Flathead Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi.
Arlint’s efforts at the course caught the attention at the highest level and landed her the coveted sport as part of the maintenance team for the Ryder Cup Course.
“When I first heard, it was kind of a shock, I didn’t really believe it, because I was like, ‘Well, didn’t really think a small-town golf course would get the chance to go,’” she told Montanasports.com.
Arlint told the website she is interested in learning new techniques while participating in the Ryder Cup and brining that information back to Polson Bay.
“It’s going to be really fun to meet people from one all over the U.S. and around Europe, from all those countries, to see how everything is different from where I am at compared to what they do,” she said. “And then I may be possibly be able to implement some of what they do on their courses to something here that might help make our course just that much better.”
The Albatros course at Le Golf National is an 18-hole layout designed by architects Hubert Chesneau and Robert Von Hagge, in collaboration with Pierre Thevenin.
Albatros is the main championship course and is a par 72 at 7,331 yards.
