Compass Pointe Golf Courses in Pasadena, Md.—managed by Billy Casper Golf—have been designated as Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuaries for their high standards protecting the environment and preserving the natural heritage of golf. Compass Pointe is the 13th golf course property in Maryland to earn the distinction from Audubon International.
In attaining certification, Compass Pointe’s 36-hole layout successfully maintains sound environmental practices in six key areas: environmental planning, wildlife and habitat management, outreach and education, chemical use reduction, water conservation, and water quality management.
“Working with Audubon International, we’ve been better able to understand the ecological impact the golf course has on our surroundings,” says Joseph Tubiolo, Superintendent at Compass Pointe. “Providing golfers with healthier playing experiences and preserving safe havens for wildlife are very important.”
